Property Revaluation

NOTICE: John O’Donnell’s assessing office has conducted a town-wide property revaluation. A revaluation is the process of updating all property values in town to reflect their current market value (i.e., to maintain reasonable estimates of what each property could sell for on the open market). The primary purpose of the revaluation is to create equitable distribution of the tax burden in order to ensure fairness to all property owners within town, and to remain in compliance with State law.  Revaluations redistribute the total tax burden more fairly and equitably.  A revaluation is done to make sure assessed values reflect changes that have occurred in the real estate market.  Norway’s last revaluation occurred 19 years ago. 

Letters will be sent this week from John O’Donnell’s office explaining the results of their revaluation work this spring.  Each property owner will receive a letter.  The Norway Town Office Staff do not have the new assessment values. You MUST contact John E. O’Donnell and Associates for this information.  You can review your proposed value by looking up your property at www.jeodonnell.com .
